For the English Teacher in Taiwan There’s abundant information on the internet about teaching English to children in Taiwan, but there is very little information about the ’special events’ that an English teacher might find themselves roped into by their school. This is the story of a ’special event’ that I did when I was a teacher at Hess Educational Organization.
Cami, you would like to tell a story in the park on Saturday? says my Taiwanese branch manager. uhm what? I say, looking up from a stack of papers that I’m grading. Yes, I think you will like very much. And maybe you sing song too. If confusion was apparent on my face, my manager showed no signs of knowing it. So yes, I think we will meet at sports park, 10am. Huh? Okay good, my manager walks away from this baffling exchange, satisfied. I later asked my western manager, or Head Native Speaking Teacher, what this was all about. I think it’s like, an event for the children of the community. You just go to a park and read a story. It’ll be fun.
For many people, New York is like the most important or fun place to be. Because of its metropolitan nature, New York is where most suburban dwellers want to go visiting. Besides this, it is also a hub of business activities as you have the famed Wall Street located there, and the twin towers. Recent estimates have shown that New York generates more than some third world countries budget per year. It also has the highest number of skyscrapers concentrated in one territory.
Often dubbed an ‘urban jungle’, it is home to more than 20 million people and amazingly, the metropolitan state seems to have more room for visitors, business executives, vacationers and tourists. New York City has a lot of attractions. In fact, it is said that you could spend three years in New York doing nothing except sightseeing and still not see every vacation spot or attraction sites. Some of New Yorks main attractions are partly responsible for its global popularity and these include:
Headlights are used as soon as the sky begins to go a dull colour and as the sky grows darker the light emitted grows more pronounced helping us see. However, this light is narrow and often short range. Many motorists do not realise they can increase their sight with the use of xenon bulbs over halogen lights. In fact these bulbs offer up to 90% more light than halogen. They also do not need modifications for fitting them in your vehicle.
Headlight Bulbs – A Very Brief History!
To understand how xenon bulbs can improve the light output from your headlights, it is probably a good idea to see how the bulbs have developed, but don’t worry the history is very brief. The first headlight bulbs were very basic affairs using incandescent lights until, in the 1960s, car bulb manufacturers introduced the first halogen bulb, which was called the H1.
In making the glass bulb airtight and filling it with a halogen gas mixture these early halogen headlight bulbs could burn much brighter. In order to improve their headlight bulbs further, the manufacturers also worked on redesigning the filament, which is the metal wire coil you see in the centre of a bulb, therefore creating a more intense beam which created a light that could project much further out than ordinary incandescent bulbs.
Nude photography has been a constant topic of debates especially among womens advocate organizations. They condemn this art as an excuse for pornography and exploitation of the models private body. They say that posing nude is just an excuse for soft pornography. A gallery exhibit at North Carolina is a collaboration of two prolific painters namely: Caroline Vaughan and Wojtek Wojdinski. Their exhibition focused on the most controversial subject which is Nudity.
Vaughans works include images of nude women amidst a landscape backdrop. Some images entirely show the beauty of a landscape including waterfalls, mountain ranges and farms. There were two photographs that garnered exclamations from critics and spectators during the exhibit. It was the photo of a nude woman at the onset of chemotherapy and after surgery. The photograph does not intend to shock its viewers but merely to show the human body in the sickness of cancer.
Wojdinskis images are also very appealing and great. He was able to capture the beauty of the human body using different techniques of playing with light and shadow. There was an image of a black man staring out of a window in a wistful manner that garnered praises and acclaims for critics. The image featured the well-chiseled body and muscular tone amidst the dimly lit room. The mans muscle lines were very well defined through the dimly lit room.
